At Olde Creek Elementary School, we are committed to providing a nurturing and stimulating learning environment for our students. With a focus on academic excellence, social development, and creative expression, we strive to foster a love for learning that will last a lifetime. Our dedicated team of educators works tirelessly to support each child in reaching their full potential, both academically and personally. From engaging classroom activities to extracurricular opportunities, Olde Creek offers a well-rounded educational experience that prepares students for success in school and beyond. Strong Academic Achievement
Our school is fully accredited. The percentage of Olde Creek students showing academic achievement on state assessments jumped three percentage points last year, from 89% in 2022-2023 to 92% in 2023-2024!
Engaging Student Programs and Activities
Olde Creek is proud of a variety of student programs and activities, including Ambassadors, Talent Show, Jump Rope Club, Green Team, MentorWorks, our student led Daily News Show, Battle of the Books, Bus Safety Patrols, Equity Book Club and Local Full Time Advanced Academic Program.
Recognized Staff Members
We have had many staff members recognized at the school, pyramid, and region levels! Our awards include Outstanding Professional Employee, Outstanding New Teacher, Outstanding Teacher, Outstanding Operational Employee, Outstanding New Principal, and Outstanding Leader. We've had two staff members win Woodson pyramid awards and two staff members win Region 5 awards!
Engaged with our Community
Our Olde Creek PTA offers a variety of community events, including Laps for Learning, the Sock Hop, Family Heritage Night, and Bingo Night. We have a Bears Cares program to help support our families. We have a partnership with George Mason University, hosting prospective teachers. Our school has a chapter of Girls on the Run! We also put on an event each year called Family Engagement Night, where families can learn more about the curriculum and ways they can support students at home!
School Community
Olde Creek is dedicated to driving home FCPS Portrait of a Graduate goals, encouraging students to complete passports with stamps as students meet each standard, and creating posters about the mission. We embrace school spirit days, and engage in social-emotional learning. Here, we value a culture of inclusion, shown through being a comprehensive services site and enhanced autism site.
Flexible Learning Spaces
Olde Creek is home to an Outdoor Classroom, Outdoor Milkweed Habitats, flexible learning spaces and an Innovation Lab. We are one of nine schools that will soon have solar panels installed to reduce annual energy costs.
Supportive and Caring Staff
Olde Creek is proud of our supportive staff. Each new teacher is partnered with a mentor during their first year. In addition to this support, we have a Bear Cubs program to help support first year teachers with professional development. We have a variety of resource teachers, including an Elementary Math Resource Teacher (EMRT), a Reading Specialist, a Coaching Resource Teacher (CRT), an Instructional Coach for Novice Teachers, and a School Based Technology Specialist (SBTS). Our Clinical Team includes our school psychologists, school social workers and school counselors.

Olde Creek Welcomes Military Families
OCES has received the Purple Star Award! Purple Star Schools has been recognized by the Virginia Department of Education and the Virginia Council on the Interstate Compact on Educational Opportunity for Military Children for their dedication to helping military-connected students and their families. These schools provide a lot of support to our military families in different ways. We have student ambassadors who provide peer support for newly enrolled students, including those who are military-connected.
We are Grant Recipients
OCES has received a few grants, listed below.
- Trauma Informed Spaces: The grant provided financial support in creating calming spaces to support students.
- Bears Cares: We support students with varying needs across in different aspects of their lives.
- Green Team: The Green Team, comprised of students and staff, was awarded a grant for an energy and water saving water fountain with a bottle filler.
